Verse I Butterflies in my head You’re a safe place Like jumping off a ledge Into a net We could talk for hours Don’t want to sleep Soak up each moment Before we’re separated Unconsciously He doesn’t mind I interrupt him Doesn’t think I talk too much Knows all the little things about me And could never get enough Don’t let go, don’t ever leave I tell you these things Plagued with defeat After repeats of love Doing me dirty I started to think Maybe love, it never lasts Chorus: I don’t know yet if he’s the one But I sure as hell know I don’t wanna let him go Don’t wanna mess this up no Don’t want to push you away Yeah, I’d rather that you stay But I’m scared ‘Cause it’s true Now that I have you Now that I have you I have so much more to lose Verse II It’s sad what life can teach you Hold your heart back Can’t rely on anyone I don’t need your help I don’t need your love I’m doing fine all boarded up My heart has healed I can’t risk another fracture Or it’ll all fall apart And I remember those times I thought I’d never get back up Now I’m standing next to you I needed to know I could be strong I needed to know I didn’t need anyone And that’s true, that’s true I don’t need you You don’t need me But we’re stronger together Like an old chair and superglue Chorus: I don’t know yet if he’s the one But I sure as hell know I don’t wanna let him go Don’t wanna mess this up no Don’t want to push you away Yeah, I’d rather that you stay But I’m scared ‘Cause it’s true Now that I have you Now that I have you I have so much more to lose Bridge Can I appreciate and relax Instead of holding my heart back But what if when I fully fall You’re not there to catch me? But I’ve never felt so safe Never disagreed with someone Who cared to see my way Never had a teammate Chorus: There’s a lot telling me that He could be the one But I sure as hell know I don’t wanna let him go Don’t wanna mess this up no Don’t want to push you away I want you to stay Please never leave ‘Cause it’s true Now that I have you Now that I have you I have so much more to lose I have so much more to lose I have so much more to lose I have so much more to lose So much more to lose

about

In life and especially in love, I’ve learned the importance of being able to recognize when you’ve got something or someone great in front of you and being brave and open enough to go after them, being self-aware enough to be able to hold onto the good things you love, but also being cognizant of when you’re holding on too tightly, and in some ways, most importantly, knowing when to release your grip and let go of people and things, you may very much love, that ultimately aren’t healthy. That at its core is what this album “Catch & Release” explores.
